These were made with a simple chocolate cupcake recipe, topped with a whipped cream – cream cheese caramel frosting, drizzled with the oh-so-delicious caramel sea-salt sauce, and sprinkled with a pinch of sea salt.
Sitting around in a meeting with only Germany speakers, listening to discussions only made in German is still a challenge for me. Am I able to understand the conversation? In general… yes. Am I able to hear and recall everything that is said? No.
I could still say that I only understand about 75-80% of what’s said to me. It’s about getting the general idea, rather than understanding every sentence and every word… a skill that I obtained a long time ago that has become very useful. What makes it worse is when more than one person is trying to say something, or are talking at once. What makes it a lot worse is when people don’t understand this…
I would like to give a big apology to those who haven’t had the opportunity to learn a new language and fully understand what it’s like to be around people speaking a foreign language. I, from the bottom of my heart, apologize that you can’t grasp the fact that though I’m smiling on the outside, my insides are generally about to burst because of daily frustrations of not understanding, and not being to say what I want. I am sincerely sorry. It must be difficult for you.
Learning German has taught me so many more things than just the language itself. For that, I am so grateful.
I’ve learned to be able to understand people in a whole different way.
Learning German has taught be to be humble in more ways than one.
I’ve learned a whole new set of skills and ways of thinking.
I’ve gained an enormous amount of confidence.
I’ve learned to stick up for myself.
I’ve learned not to be afraid of what I don’t know and accentuate what I do know.
Most importantly, I’ve learned to look on the bright side of things and SMILE because I know that in the big picture… everything is going to be okay.
Don’t mistake my smiles for weakness… because they certainly are not.
I said I was planning on making something with my newly made sea-salt caramel sauce…
