Halloween just happens to fall on a Saturday this year.
What this means…
…to kids: Kids can Trick or Treat all night long, dressed up as their favorite character, eat as much candy as they want, and not worry about going to school the next day! Yaaay!
…to adults: Adults can throw an awesome adult Halloween party, dressed up as their favorite childhood character or funny emoji with really cool cocktails including bourbon, drink as much as they want, and not worry about going to work the next day! Yaaay!
So basically the same concept… just switching a little candy for alcohol… no big deal…
Bourbon is definitely my choice for Fall cocktails… it just warms the soul. Plus, it’s a great little taste of home. Pair it with apple and a little sparkling water to give it a some fizz, and you’ve got yourself a great drink to enjoy on Halloween… or any weekend during the brisk, Fall months.
Halloween is slowely becoming a larger celebration in Germany like it is in the U.S. We have lots of little Trick-or-Treaters that come to the door and yell, “Süßes oder Saures,” which means, “Sweet or sauer.” So basically the same as “Trick or Treat.”
On the other hand, there are some thing I miss that haven’t quite gotten picked up here yet. Haunted Houses, for example. I definitely miss willfully entering a Hauted House just to run out screaming like a little girl. Also, I miss the adult end of celebrating Halloween! Hence, the Apple Bourbon Cocktails… The adult parties are few and far between, especially for the young adult crowd (18-25). Not saying that I’m in that age group anymore, but I can look back onto my time celebrating Halloween incollege and we had a blast using it to our advantage, dressing up in all kinds of ridiculous outfits for an entire week!
With that said, take this cocktail and use it to your advantage, wherever you may be this Halloween…
