Since my apartment has been completely empty for about two weeks, I decided it was time to buy a table and chairs. It turned out to be a little more complicated than just ordering a package online.
It came in the mail and I came home from work this week to find an enormous package sitting inside the door in the stairway of the apartment building. How on earth will I get this thing upstairs? I live on the top floor… no elevator…
After what seemed like an hour and after dropping the package 15 times I managed to make it to the top, extremely exhausted.
I was so excited to finally have something to occupy the space in my apartment that I wanted to put it together right then and there.
Well, what do you know…
Tools are required. I don’t have one tool. Not a single screw driver. How is that possible?
I guess the table will just have to wait.
It’s a good things my neighbor underneath me is extremely nice, first lending me his internet and now some tools to build my table and chairs.
I can’t bring back the borrowed tools empty handed, so what’s a girl to do???
Brownies are a delicious treat that everybody loves. They’re chewy, moist and fill every kind of chocolate craving known to man. I didn’t want to just make brownies… I’m a professional for goodness sake. Not that there’s anything wrong with a nice rich chocolate brownie, I just figured I have to step it up a notch… and that means ganache.
You can never go wrong with a great ganache. It’s the best topper to a brownie, cake, cupcake… the possibilities are endless…
Fudgy Brownies with a Orange Liquor Ganache
225g Dark chocolate
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 tsp. Salt
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a water bath on the stove. Once melted, remove from heat and add the sugar, stirring until combined. Add the eggs one at a time. Stir in the vanilla and salt. In 3 additions, fold in the flour.
Pour into a prepared rectangular 8-inch pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
10ml Orange Liquor
165g Dark chocolate (chopped)
Powdered sugar (optional)
In a pot over the stove bring the cream, butter and water to a boil. Add the cocoa and stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil again. Remove from heat. Add the chopped chocolate and liquor. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is well combined.
Pour over the baked and cooled brownies. Place in the refrigerator until the ganache has firmed up. Cut into squares and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
