Easter Sugar Cookies
This recipe is used for cutting out cookies for the holidays or just for fun! It is the perfect dough that doesn't loose its' shape!
Serves: About 20
  • For the Sugar Cookies:
  • 225 g butter, softened
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 310 g flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • For the Royal Icing:
  • egg whites
  • powdered sugar, sifted
  1. Start by creaming the butter and sugar.
  2. Add the vanilla and the egg.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Slowly add to the mixture.
  5. Form into a dough and on a floured surface, roll out the dough to the desired thickness.
  6. For best results, roll the dough directly out onto floured baking paper.
  7. Cut out the cookies and remove extra dough.
  8. Slide the baking paper onto the baking tray.
  9. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour (this is important!)
  10. Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit.
  11. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the cookies begin to brown on the edges.
  12. Let cool and decorate!
